Automated Vehicles (AVs) have the potential to make our roads safer, improve mobility, lift productivity and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions through new shared transport models and low emissions technology.
To make sure Australians derive the benefits of AVs, we are working closely with governments and industry to develop the regulatory and operational framework that will support deployment and optimise the benefits of AVs.
As part of this work, we partnered with Austroads to release an updated version of the Automated Vehicle Trial Guidelines. These guidelines enable AVs to be tested in real-world situations, allowing us to better understand and improve how they interact with other road users and unique environmental conditions.
