About NTC / Who we are & what we do / NTC reviews

To determine the ongoing role and priorities of the NTC, we are reviewed every six years in accordance with our governing legislation.

NTC reviews

Under section 51 of the NTC Act, we are subject to regular reviews by the Transport and Infrastructure Council at least every six years.

2015

In November 2014 the Transport and Infrastructure Council announced that a section 51 review would take place in 2015 with the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure and Transport providing secretariat support.

The findings and recommendations of the 2015 NTC review were endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments on 11 December 2015.

2012 

Transport ministers agreed in November 2011 to conduct a review to examine the role and functions of the NTC and other relevant transport bodies, following the commencement of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator in January 2013.

The findings and recommendations of the 2012 NTC review were approved by ministers in May 2013.

2009

The findings and recommendations of the 2009 NTC review were endorsed by the Council of Australian Governments on 7 December 2009.
