Greater accountability for the timely delivery of national reforms in the key areas of Productivity, Pricing, Safety & Environment and Compliance underpin the National Transport Commission’s (NTC) new organisational structure announced today. Each reform portfolio is now headed by a General Manager, with clear operational responsibility for managing and leading their respective teams.
“Our organisation, like any other, must adapt to its external environment and meet the high expectations of its stakeholders,” Chief Executive Officer Nick Dimopoulos said.
“The new structure empowers a talented, cohesive leadership group with clearly defined objectives and accountabilities. This will help to sharpen our focus on the delivery of national transport and COAG reforms.”
The Commission’s in-house capability is further strengthened by a number of new appointments in the areas of pricing, productivity and safety (see note below).
An Office of the CEO has been created to drive the planning and development of the NTC’s strategic direction and its linkage to the work program. This small group will ensure the NTC continues to lead national transport reform.
Mr Dimopoulos said the delivery of future reform challenges will require strong industry and government stakeholder relationships and a new model of cooperation.
“We’ve listened carefully to our stakeholders and the clear message we’re hearing is – we want the NTC to work cooperatively with us on national transport reform priorities,” he said. “If we build those relationships based on trust, honesty and transparency, we can collectively make a real difference.”
The NTC’s new organisational structure is effective immediately.
